Youth Leading Youth — 12 sessions × 15 minutes each, run during monthly PLC meetings. Built for Patrol Leaders ages 11–17.

Meetings are typically cancelled due to school closings unless notified by the Scoutmaster or Committee Chair.
Monthly Campouts
Generally the 3rd Saturday of each month (sometimes 2nd Saturday to avoid holidays like Easter or Christmas). Campouts run Saturday–Sunday.
There is typically no Monday meeting after a campout weekend. Specific campout fees are communicated about a month in advance when the signup is announced.
Troop 255 is youth-led. Scouts plan meetings and activities with adult guidance — not the other way around.
The second meeting of each month includes a Parent Meeting where the state of the troop and upcoming activities are discussed.
Scouts progress through ranks by learning skills and demonstrating leadership: Scout → Tenderfoot → Second Class → First Class → Star → Life → Eagle.
The Scout Handbook is an essential companion — it contains all rank requirements, skill guides, knot diagrams, first aid references, and advancement checklists. Every scout should have one and bring it to every campout.
Merit Badges allow scouts to explore interests and earn specialized skills. Eagle Scout requires 21 merit badges, including 14 that are required (First Aid, Citizenship, Communications, and others).
Troop 255 attends a 10-day summer camp at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation every June — the troop's signature annual experience. Through daily challenges, merit badge work, and shared adventures, scouts build resilience, resourcefulness, and confidence that carry far beyond the borders of camp.
It's not uncommon for parents to notice that scouts return home transformed: more independent, mature, and ready to meet the demands of life with renewed purpose.
An esteemed honor and leadership program at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation. Scouts are chosen based on demonstrated dedication, helpfulness, and leadership potential. Participation incorporates meaningful customs and traditions that promote camaraderie and personal growth.
Mic-o-Say originated over a century ago from a collaboration with Northern Arapaho leader Lone Bear. The Heart of America Council's Inner Circle is widely recognized for its Eagle Scouts and enduring traditions.
Scouting's National Honor Society — dedicated to recognizing scouts who best exemplify the ideals of the Scout Oath and Law. Members are chosen by their peers for cheerful service, leadership, and commitment to outdoor adventure.
The OA promotes camping and service projects within the troop and the broader community, offering special opportunities for growth, friendship, and memorable experiences.
