Cub Scout Pack 4255 is a Lee's Summit family scouting group that's been part of the community for over 30 years. Like many packs it has grown and shrunk over the years, and it's actively rebuilding — which makes it a great time to join and help shape what comes next.
Any boy or girl in Kindergarten through 5th grade is welcome. Cub Scouting is designed to grow with your child, one grade and one rank at a time.
Yes! Girls are welcome. Dens are coed through 3rd grade. Starting at Webelos (4th grade), the pack forms a separate all-girls den that does all the same activities as the rest of the pack.
A den is a small group of scouts in the same grade working toward the same rank — usually 4 to 8 kids. A pack is all the dens together under one chartering organization. Your scout meets often with their den and joins the whole pack for monthly pack meetings and big events.
Kindergarten = Lion, 1st grade = Tiger, 2nd grade = Wolf, 3rd grade = Bear, 4th grade = Webelos, and 5th grade = Arrow of Light. See the Dens & Ranks page for what each level does.
Our leaders work hard to keep costs low through annual dues and donations. The pack's guiding belief is that every child should be able to participate — confidential scholarship assistance is available for any family who needs it. New-scout fees are prorated by month, and annual registration is collected each October. Reach out and we'll walk you through the current amounts.
Scouts wear the Class A field uniform — the official shirt, belt with adventure loops, neckerchief, and appropriate pants — to meetings unless told otherwise. For active events, scouts wear a Class B pack t-shirt and clothes suited to the activity.
Dens meet during the school year (pausing for holidays and weather closures), the whole pack gathers monthly, and there are special events like the Pinewood Derby and Blue & Gold Banquet sprinkled through the year. It's built to fit around busy family life — see the Calendar for the shape of a typical year.
Lions and Tigers (Kindergarten and 1st grade) meet with a parent or adult partner present the whole time. For all dens, a parent personally walks their scout to and from meetings — scouts are never dropped in a parking lot or dismissed without a parent there. Cub Scouting is designed to be done together.
After earning Arrow of Light in 5th grade, scouts cross over into Scouts BSA. Pack 4255 feeds directly into Troop 255, our partner troop right here in Lee's Summit — so the adventure keeps going all the way to Eagle.
